Timber Dover started because two guys wanted to use chainsaws.  Really.

Well, it actually started because they were interested in woodworking.  But then the emerald ash borer hit Southern Ontario, and Greg was left with more than a dozen downed trees in his backyard. And being the good woodworker that he was, he immediately thought "free lumber"!

But how to make those trees into lumber? An Alaskan chainsaw mill, of course. So, the guys took a detour to purchase chainsaws and mills, and then the sawdust began to fly.

Soon Brennan's sales contacts bore fruit, and salvaged trees began to find their way south to be processed. More sawdust was made.

Then the waiting began. Waiting for all of the beautiful live edge slabs to dry. It takes one year for every inch of board thickness. Patience is a virtue - and the guys weren't sure they had it!

Fortunately, they did have patience (and space to dry all that wood)! And now it's time to get back to where this story began - woodworking.  The shop is ready to start making artisanal tables and benches, and whatever else creative minds can dream up.

That doesn't mean that the chainsaws will stop though. There will always be trees to mill, and wonderful live edge boards to discover in the middle of an old salvaged log.

Let's keep the Timber Dover adventure going.
